MFN Series 1 - Full Results

Muay Fight Night (MFN) has concluded on Saturday 8 April 2017. It was successfully organised by Sabah State Muaythai Association with the collaboration with Team Karabaw & Revolution Gym, at the place now known as Karabaw Mini Stadium at 88 Marketplace, Kepayan Kota Kinabalu.

This inaugural event was graced by president of Sabah Muaythai Tuan Haji Nazri, who gave away the medals to the winners.

According to Rayner Kinsiong, founder of Team Karabaw, whom is instrumental in making the 1st series of MFN a success, MFN will further try to develop young Muaythai exponents. The 2nd series is planned for junior series focusing on under 16 and under 12 participants.

Muaythai exponents in Thailand and other parts of Asia starts very young, some as young as 5 or 6 years old. They practically grow up in training camp and their will to succeed is very high as it's a way for them to make a living to provide for the family, to escape poverty and to achieve fame!

Countries like Russia and the Eastern European states are moving fast in developing fighters from a very young age. For Malaysia to succeed and produce a champion, fighters need to be exposed to more fights. The more fights they have, the more experience they gain and the more accustom they are to being in a competitive mode.

Muaythai Sabah is trying to give more opportunities to young exponents to gain experience through more competition and also through scientific method, where coaches with good knowledge of sports science and great technical skills are developed and trained to lead the new generations of fighters.

This effort requires much expenditure and with corporate company like Dihnar Group helping, and of course through the cooperation and support from the local gyms, slowly but surely Sabah is moving through the right direction.

Muay Fight Night : Continuos Efforts To Unearth New Muaythai Talents in Sabah

Persatuan Muaythai Negeri Sabah (Sabah Muaythai Association) is looking forward to a busy 2017. Kickstarting Muaythai in Sabah with Muay Fight Night (MFN).

MFN is another event organised by Sabah Muaythai to unearth new Muaythai talents in the state. This amateur event will be held on 8-9 April at the vicinity of Team Karabaw gym at 88 Marketplace, Kepayan, Kota Kinabalu.

MFN is sponsor by Dihnar Group and is in collaboration with Team Karabaw & Revolution Gym.

According to Tuan Hj Nazri Razak, Sabah Muaythai Association President, Sabah needs new talents in Muaythai as the association is always on the lookout for Muaythai athletes to represent Sabah for many competition around the year in Sabah & elsewhere in Malaysia, hence in the association's plan, MFN is a continuous effort to provide a platform for newbies to gain experience and a place for them to test out their skills.

Participants for MFN are open for athletes to represent their clubs, district association or even as an individuals. Sabah Muaythai aims to organise MFN once every two months. In May Sabah Muaythai will host Piala Borneo, and some of the athletes may get to be selected to represent Sabah.

Ask on how far is the progress of Sabah in comparison to other Malaysian state,...Hj Nazri explained,

"We are actually not too far behind. What we can do is to achieve more victory in and outside of Sabah. We are also doing our long term development so that our Muaythai athletes will continously be expose to new competition and training and keeping them active and moving forward all the time"

Haji Nazri also explained that Sabah Muathai athletes have positive improvement in fitness and strenght, but techniques are still something they must work on. 

On why Sabah does not see many foreign coaches, Haji Nazri explained...

"What we really need are coaches that combine the knowledge of  sport science, proper techniques and are qualified with Muaythai specific course, they can be locals, not necessarily foreigners; because cost in hiring foreigner is a challenge."

Aside from MFN, Sabah Muaythai is also planning for Inter-Club competition after the Hari Raya celebration around July-August and the Inter-District tournament around November.

KK is the new Sabah Inter-District Muaythai Champion

The two day Muaythai tournament gave a good closing for Muaythai in Sabah, with Kota Kinabalu (KK) emerging as the new overall champion among the 12 district that competed. 2015 Champion , Tawau took 6th placing.

It was a close fight between KK and Sandakan, both district won 15 medals each but KK edge Sandakan with 1 extra gold medal to be the champion.

The Inter-District was organised by Sabah Muaythai Association, Kota Kinabalu Muaythai Association and Kaza Musa Fight Management to unearth new talent for Sabah. Sabah Muaythai has seen a busy 2016, with Inter-Club championship being organised in August at Sandakan.  Followed by sending a team to the national championship in September, a month later, Tawau Muaythai Championship. In November, Sabah Muaythai team brought back the Borneo Cup to Sabah.

The Inter-District Championship was also held together with Sabah Fight. A pro Muaythai fight event organised by Kelab Sukan Inspirasi Kinabalu and Kaza Musa Fight Management. According to Kaza Musa, the pro fight card was organised with 5 pro bouts per night with Pro Muaythai athletes from Sabah, Labuan, Miri and India. 

Not only does it add the hype to the championship but these pro fights also showcase the best of Muaythai in this region and act as a motivating factor and inspiration to the amateur Muaythai athletes.

Datuk Idris Jumat closed the event on the evening of 11 Dec at Karamunsing Complex by giving away the Datuk Idris Jumat Cup sponsored by Parliament 171 Sepanggar to the winner of the main event of the night Anil Mehta of Team Relentless India vs Ronald Tee of Borneo Combat Gym Labuan. Anil emerged the winner.

Datuk Idris commented that Muaythai is gaining popularity in Sabah and he believes this is a good sign and will always be willing to support healthy sports activities that targets the youth. he congratulated Sabah Muaythai Association for successfully organising the Inter-District Championship 2016. 

Sabah Muaythai president, Hj Nazri said that Sabah will be the host for 2017 Borneo Cup, which will see participation from Sarawak, Kalimantan and Brunei and is looking forward to have a successful event in Likas Stadium in April. Sabah Muaythai has also identified potential talent that will represent Sabah to defend the Borneo Cup that Sabah has won this year.

EFN3 Kuala Lumpur 31 OCT 2015

Malaysia will see another global combat sports event happening on 31 OCT 2015 at Kuala Lumpur. EFN Champion League 3, brought to you by Elite Boxing will be held at Kuala Lumpur Badminton Stadium, featuring 2 groups of Super 4 tournament in one night.

EFN has held 2 successful events in Bangkok. With this first event outside Thailand, EFN will look to expand regionally to cover other venue in Asia Pacific. For fight fans you can expect quality fights from EFN as they match up exceptional fighters that always bring their best to the ring.

EFN Champions League will be a series of four tournament in different venue across Asia, which the champion of each series will qualify for the esteemed muay thai King's Cup in Bangkok this December.

Tonight's Super 4 fight will see three fighters representing Malaysia. Kai Chee ( the pioneering MMA fighters of Malaysia ), Aiman ( Hitam Putih Muay Thai Gym ) and Bow Suweilek ( Dihnar Gym ). EFN3 also will feature 3 other Superfight at 63kg & 60kg, featuring 2 Malaysian - Kudin will fight Korean Kim Dong Hwan, and Iwan Merican vs Yod Police from Thailand.

Warriors of Borneo will be rooting for Bow Suweilek, whom fight out of Borneo at Dihnar Gym in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Bow is from Thailand and has live in Malaysia for close to 7 years. He came to Malaysia to coach muay thai in a few gym and early this year Dihnar under Ir Hj Nazri has brought him to Kota Kinabalu as the head coach. Hj Nazri has a vision of lifting muay thai standard in Borneo and particularly in Sabah and bringing Bow into his gym is one of the steps to achieve this. He also is the man behind D1 Fighting Championship, the leading muay thai championship in Borneo, in which Bow has won 3 tiltle.

Fighting since he was a kid in Phuket Thailand, Bow is the most experience fighter of tonight's fights. He has wealth of muay thai experience with close to 300 fights in his records and 250 of that is a win. He won his first tilte belt when he was 9.

As a coach in Dihnar, Bow is a no nonsense type and instill strict discipline to his students. He is very willing to share his vast knowledge of the fighting arts of the 8 limbs and he expect his students to have great commitment too in order to learn & improve. But outside the gym, he is casual & friendly.

As a fighter Bow is technically strong and has tremendous speed. With the ability to apply various techniques at many different situation makes Bow unpredictable and makes his opponent very hard to read his moves.

In Bow's group B, at bout no. 3 will see the fight of Mostafa Ashouri from Iran vs Maroof Ozcan from Germanny. Bow will be facing a young fighter - Valdimir Shulyak from Khazhakstan in bout no.4.

In group A at bout no.1 will see a Malaysia vs Malaysia, Aiman vs Kai Chee.

The champion of tonight's EFN Champion League 3 will earn RM15,000 and get to fight in the prestigious King's Cup ( Royal Thai King's Birthday Muay Thai Cup ).
